Geez, Please Don’t Do This To Your Vehicle
Geez, Please Don’t Do This To Your Vehicle
I know I just sent out an email a few weeks ago about cabin filters however a car came in yesterday that made me want to mention this again.
Please don’t let dirt, leaves and debris sit on the edge of the windshield. This will go into your vehicle's ventilation system and can cause serious harm to your vehicle.
Your cabin air filter is typically behind the glove box in most late model vehicles. (my is behind the glove box) When the cabin air filter is unchanged for long periods of time, the dirt, dust and pollen builds up and is blown into the interior of the car when the heat or A/C is turned on.
The cabin air filter also helps slow down the amount of road debris, leaves and much more from going further into your ventilation system. A dirty cabin air filter can result in allowing debris into the ventilation system and into the vehicle's evaporator core. This can and often does result in the evaporator core having to be replaced. Replacing an evaporator core is around $2500 to $4000 depending on your vehicle.
Keep in mind that in most cars the cabin filter is located behind the glove box. So if you keep your glove box as messy as mine please remember to unmess it before you come in for service.
A/C Issues, The Summer Heat is Here
A/C Issues, The Summer Heat is Here
With the temperatures hitting the 90’s the Summer heat is here. I mentioned before that my A/C is one of the top NEEDS in my life. (I would rather starve and be very cool than suffer in the Summer heat. I think I can live longer without food than A/C.) One of the worse things that can bring me down is sitting in traffic with a malfunctioning cooling system. (3 Summers ago my A/C broke and the shop was busy and could not get it repaired for a couple of weeks.) That being said, how's your air conditioner working ?
Is it time to have your A/C inspected and repaired ? When you come in for an air conditioning inspection or service our technicians will complete the following:
- Inspect the air conditioning cooling ability
- Check the refrigerant level and pressure
- Overall visual inspection
- Examine all A/C and cooling system hoses for cuts, abrasion, weak spots, and signs of leakage
- If your system is low on refrigerant a dye test will be performed to find the source of the leak.
- Replace broken and worn out parts
- Add refrigerant as needed
Hopefully your air conditioner is keeping you cool as a cucumber if not give us a call before the Summer heat and humidity wears you out.

This Could Happen to Your Car
This Could Happen to Your Car
I’ve sent out a few emails in the past letting you know that when the dirt, leaves and debris build up below your windshield it could cause problems with your air conditioning system. More specifically your evaporator core. Well I still see so many cars with debris below the windshield I thought would remind y'all again.
This evaporator core fails because the dirt, leaves and debris enter the evaporator case through the exterior air intake vents and come in contact with the evaporator surface. This moist atmosphere causes decomposition of the organic materials, and can form caustic corrosive substances which can eventually perforate the surface of the evaporator. These same substances can also sometimes lead to an odor
problem inside the vehicle, most noticeable when the system is first operated.
Clearing off the dirt, leaves and debris will help cut down on the chances of your evaporator core going bad. This is important as the replacement cost depending on your vehicle is $2500 to $3500. Keeping that area clean does not guarantee you won’t ever have to replace your evaporator core however it gives you a lot better chance of not
If you look at the photos a major cost is the fact of replacing the evaporator core is it located behind the dash and takes 20 plus hours of labor to get to it.
Reminder, Keep Falling Leaves and Debris Off Your Car
Reminder, Keep Falling Leaves and Debris Off Your Car.
Recently the leaves seemed to fall all at once. This email is a reminder to keep the leaves, twigs, dead bugs and other road debris off your car especially right below your windshield.
This debris can over time can work its way into your vehicle's air system impacting the quality of the air you breath and possibly into the evaporator core which is part of you air conditioning system.
Now this doesn’t sound that awful until your evaporator core goes out. OUCH no A/C and a major repair depending on your vehicle that will cost between $2800 - $5000. YIKES !!! That's not the only reason the evaporator core will go out but why take the chance.
One more thing to keep in mind is to have your cabin filter checked and changed regularly.
We thank you and may your holidays be filled with fun, food, family, friends and be the best ever.

Keep Your Cool When Things Heat Up: A/C Service Needed ?
Keep Your Cool When Things Heat Up: A/C Service Needed ?
With the weather warming up it’s time to think about having your A/C serviced. (It’s going to be 88 degrees on Saturday) Sitting in traffic when temperatures soar without a properly functioning A/C system is the last place you want to be.
If you feel your A/C system is not working as well as you would like, the time to have it looked at is now before it gets too hot. If you're feeling “cool as a cucumber” it’s probably not necessary to give your A/C a second thought.
Often times you just might need to have your system recharged and checked for leaks. However if it’s blowing hot air you're probably going to need a compressor. (ouch) If when switching on the A/C and you hear clicking or a whining noise that’s usually a sure sign there’s a problem with the A/C. Either way having a working air conditioner in Atlanta is a must. If the A/C is not up to keeping you cool it’s now time to have one of our Master Technicians examine the system for problems.
